People Like Hur
In Exodus 17, while Israel battles the Amalekites, Moses stands on a hill with God’s staff. As long as his hands are raised, Israel wins but when he tires, the enemy gains ground. That’s when Aaron and Hur step in. They hold up Moses’ arms, ensuring Israel’s victory.
This message honors the often-overlooked “Hurs” in the church—those who quietly, faithfully serve behind the scenes. Hur wasn’t a general, prophet, or priest. He wasn’t front and center, but without him, the battle would have been lost. His support was invaluable, involved, and an investment in God’s work and future generations.
We’re reminded:
Everyone matters in the body of Christ, even the unseen.
Victory often depends on those behind the scenes.
Others are watching our faithfulness, especially the next generation.
Finally, just as Hur lifted Moses, someone has been your Hur—praying, believing, and holding you up when you were weak.
Thank God for People Like Hur.
